Abstract

Faced with the consumer society, marked by rapid consumption and inappropriate disposal of electronic equipment in the context of the contemporary era of capitalism in which economic growth and the generation of profit and wealth are based on stimulating unbridled consumption, the circular economy emerges as a promising solution. The project proposes the development of an application called “Techshare” to connect electronic equipment owners with temporary renters, offering a sustainable alternative to inappropriate disposal. By promoting the intelligent reuse of electronic devices and extending their useful life, Techshare can contribute to reducing the environmental impacts of the consumer society. With an emphasis on the principles of technological innovation (SDG 9), creation of sustainable cities (SDG 11) and encouraging responsible consumption and production (SDG 12), the project aims to establish the foundations for a more equitable and environmentally conscious future. The planned obsolescence of electronic products causes the volume of disposal to increase every year, making cell phones, computers, household appliances, among others, less durable, thus encouraging recurring repurchases. In this context, it is reflected that planned obsolescence, within the scope of the consumer society, produces equipment with an economically short useful life, causing consumers to make repeated purchases during the product's use cycle. As a result of this research, a business plan, a perspective of the application and a mental map explaining how the application works were prepared.
