Abstract

This article addresses the relevance of Information Security in the contemporary social and technological context, aiming to deepen the discussion on its importance and raise awareness on the topic. The methodology combines a literature review with field research. It first explores the historical development and future trends of Information Security, also analyzing the impact of technologies on social and business processes. The study includes a comparison of security investments across companies of different sizes and assesses users' knowledge on the subject. The approach aims to identify gaps in the implementation of security practices and correlate knowledge with perceptions of its importance. The results indicate that, despite increasing awareness of cybersecurity risks, significant gaps remain in the application of Information Security, highlighting the need for greater investments and training to ensure the protection of social and business order. It is concluded that the field requires more attention to risk mitigation and the promotion of more effective information protection practices.
