Abstract

Burnout syndrome, also known as professional burnout, can have several causes, including stress, pressure to achieve results, lack of motivation, and work overload, affecting individuals' professional performance, mental health, and personal lives. Furthermore, companies, in addition to reduced productivity, may face problems such as employee turnover. The objective of this study is to investigate and analyze people's knowledge and perceptions of the main causes and consequences of burnout in the corporate environment, as well as possible solutions. To this end, a case study was conducted at the Faculty of Technology - Fatec de Garça, São Paulo, through the administration of an online questionnaire to students in various programs at the institution. It was found that most are aware of the main causes of the problem, but not of its severity. Therefore, they do not give due importance, especially to maintaining a healthy work environment, good relationships between hierarchical levels, and a balance between personal and professional life.
